How to make your QR code

1. 1. Put your link or your text in the box. A website address works without typing https:// first.
2. 2. Check the black and white square that appears on the right. That is your live QR code.
3. 3. Add a caption if this code is going on a wall, so people know what it is before they scan.
4. 4. Press Download PNG 1024 px. Use 2048 px if the code is going on a poster or a flex board.
5. 5. Test it once with your own phone camera before you print a hundred copies.

Pick the right kind of QR code

A QR code is only a way of writing text that a camera can read fast. What matters is the text you put inside. Each page below builds that text correctly for one job, so the phone does the right thing when it scans.

Printing a QR code so it actually scans

• • Smallest safe size is 2 x 2 cm on paper. On a shutter or a board, go 15 cm or bigger.
• • Keep the white border around the code. That empty space is what tells the camera where the code starts.
• • Black on white scans best. Light code on a dark background often fails.
• • Do not stretch it. A QR code must stay a square.
• • Do not print it across a fold or a curved bottle. Flat surfaces only.
• • Matte paper beats glossy. Glossy throws light back into the camera.

Common questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There is no signup, no trial and no limit on how many codes you make. We earn from the paid Ahoyy card, not from this page.

Will my QR code expire?

No. The image holds your text directly, so there is nothing on our side that can expire. It only stops working if the link inside stops working.

Can I change where the QR code points after I print it?

Not with a downloaded PNG. The text is baked into the pattern. If you want to change the target later, point the QR at a page you control, like an Ahoyy card, and edit that page instead.

What size should I download for printing?

Take 1024 px for a visiting card, a menu card or an A4 sheet. Take 2048 px for a poster, a shutter sticker or a flex board.

Do you see my UPI ID or my Wi-Fi password?

No. The code is drawn by your own browser. Nothing you type in the form is sent to a server.

Why does my code not scan?

Usually it is printed too small, printed on glossy paper, or the white border was cut off. Print bigger, keep the border, and test with two different phones.
