Why we built Ahoyy

We didn't want to build another corporate networking app. We just wanted to remember the plumber's name.

A few years ago, we realized something broken about our phones. Our contact lists had become graveyards. Mixed in with our parents, partners, and best friends were people like "Plumber New," "Cake Lady," and fifteen different Rahuls we couldn't tell apart.

When we actually needed a good AC mechanic in the middle of summer, we couldn't find the guy who did a great job last year. And we constantly worried about accidentally sending a family WhatsApp forward to our boss or our CA.

We looked for a solution, but everything out there was a "digital business card" app meant for people in suits exchanging LinkedIn profiles at conferences. That's not how we live. Our everyday networks are messy, local, and built in-person across neighborhoods and trades.

What Ahoyy is for

Ahoyy is a personal contact app that helps you save, remember, and find the people you meet in everyday life—without crowding your phonebook.

It is for the guy who fixed your geyser. The accountant everyone swears by. The tailor who gets your fit right. Ahoyy holds everyone else, so the people closest to you stay closest.

What we believe

1. Your phonebook is yours.

Social networks want to absorb your contacts so they can suggest friends. We just want to keep your contacts organized on your device. We don't spam them, and we don't sell your data.

2. People are more than numbers.

You remember people by where you met them and what they do, not just their first name. Ahoyy connects contacts to places and notes because that is how human memory actually works.

3. Good products respect your time.

Ahoyy shouldn't require a 10-minute tutorial. Point your camera at a visiting board, and let us do the rest. Sharing your details on WhatsApp should take exactly one tap.
