Visiting card maker
A shop card has to answer one question: do you have it
Retail customers do not call to chat. They call to ask whether you have the thing they need, before they make the trip. A card that lists what you stock gets that call.
And a card that gives your closing time saves you the call at nine at night from someone who is already on the way.

Drawing your card...
Optional. JPG, PNG or WebP. It is fitted into the corner at its own shape, so a wide logo stays wide.
The card is 3.5 x 2 inches, the normal Indian visiting card size. 1050 x 600 is 300 dpi, which every press accepts. Ask the printer to keep 3 mm bleed on all sides.
Paper runs out and numbers change. An Ahoyy card is the same card, on a link you can edit.
What a retail card should carry
- • The category people search for: hardware, mobile, stationery, furniture, electricals, gifts.
- • Four or five things you are known for stocking.
- • Whether you deliver, and inside what area.
- • Opening and closing time, and your weekly off.
- • Whether you do wholesale as well as retail.
- • Whether you take UPI and cards. Some customers still check.
- • A landmark, so people find the shop the first time.
Retail types and where the card goes
| Hardware and paint | To every contractor, plumber and electrician. They buy every week. |
|---|---|
| Mobile and accessories | In the bag with every phone and every screen guard fitted. |
| Stationery and printing | Schools, coaching classes and small offices. |
| Furniture | Interior designers, carpenters and new housing projects. |
| Gift and fancy store | In the gift bag, because the person receiving it is a new customer. |
| Electrical and lighting | Builders, electricians and society maintenance staff. |
Make your shop card
- 1. Put the shop name exactly as it is on the board, so people recognise it.
- 2. List what you stock in the services line. Be specific about brands if that is your strength.
- 3. Use the one-line field for timings or for delivery.
- 4. Write your address with a landmark.
- 5. Keep the QR on so trade customers save the shop number after their first visit.
Trade customers are worth ten walk-ins
A contractor who buys from you every week is worth more than fifty one-time customers, and he is far cheaper to reach.
Print a separate stack of cards with "Wholesale rates for contractors" in the tagline and give those only to trade buyers. Same card, one changed line, a very different result.
Common questions
- Should I list brands on my shop card?
- Yes, if the brands are the reason people come. A hardware shop that stocks a known paint brand should say so.
- How do I fit my full stock list on a card?
- You do not. Put five headline items on the card and the full list on the page behind the QR.
- Is a card worth it when my shop has a board outside?
- The board only works when someone walks past. The card works when they are sitting at home deciding where to go.
- Should I print both retail and wholesale on one card?
- Print two versions. Retail customers reading "wholesale" often assume they cannot buy from you.
- What if my shop moves?
- That is the weakness of printed cards. Point the QR at a page you can edit, and the address updates for everyone who scanned it.
Let people check your stock before they come
A free Ahoyy page lists what you sell, your rates and your timings. The card sends them there.
