One is sold in a sales call. One you can just start using.

Popl is an event lead capture platform for teams that work trade shows and conferences: badge scanning, lead retrieval, list enrichment and CRM routing, sold through a demo call. Ahoyy is a free India-first app for people who share a number on WhatsApp, keep a messy phonebook, and want their shop to turn up when a customer searches.

The most important fact on this page is a missing one. On 31 July 2026, Popl’s own pricing page published no prices. It says pricing is quoted in a meeting. Other sites list numbers for Popl plans, but we do not repeat figures we could not read on Popl’s own site, so this page compares what each product does instead.

Side by side

Published pricePopl: none. The pricing page says pricing is quoted in a meeting. Ahoyy: free forever tier, Rs 199 one-time top-up, Starter Rs 299 a month, Pro Rs 799 a month, all listed on our pricing page.
How you buy itPopl: book a demo, get a quote. Ahoyy: sign in and start. Nothing on the free tier asks for card details.
Pricing modelPopl: described on its site as all-inclusive, with no per-seat charges and unlimited users, events and leads. Ahoyy: free tier plus optional monthly plans in rupees.
Rupee pricePopl: no INR figure published on 31 July 2026. Ahoyy: billed in rupees through Razorpay.
Main job it doesPopl: capture leads at events at scale and push them to a CRM. Ahoyy: share your card, keep a clean phonebook, and put your shop on a page customers can find.
Event badge scanningPopl: a universal badge scanner is a headline feature. Ahoyy: no badge scanning.
CRM syncPopl: CRM integrations, included at no extra fee per its pricing page. Ahoyy: none.
App storesPopl: not checked, so we make no claim. Ahoyy: the mobile app is in TestFlight, and the whole product also runs in a browser.
Shop listing that Google can findAhoyy: a public shop page at ahoyy.app/b/your-shop with services, prices, photos and a map pin. Popl: built around teams and events, not a local listing.
HindiAhoyy: the app, the business screens and the 12-category service taxonomy all speak Hindi. Popl: English on the pages we checked.
UPIAhoyy: a UPI QR on your shop page, and we never sit between you and the payment. Popl: no UPI feature on the pages we checked.

What each one actually costs

Popl does not publish a price. Its pricing page explains the choice: they want to be sure the product fits and that they can stand behind the return on an event lead capture strategy, so they quote in a meeting instead of listing tiers. The same page describes the shape of the deal as all-inclusive, with no per-seat charge, no usage fees, unlimited users, events and leads, and no separate charge for CRM integrations.

That is a normal way to sell software to companies. It also means you cannot compare on price until you have taken a call, and it usually means the number is a business number rather than a personal one.

Ahoyy publishes everything. Free forever covers your card, your public page, the QR code, WhatsApp sharing, your saved contacts on a map, and two directory email reveals a day. A Rs 199 one-time top-up gives you 25 reveals for 30 days with no auto-renewal. Starter is Rs 299 a month and Pro is Rs 799 a month, billed in rupees through Razorpay.

Where Popl is the better pick

  • You work trade shows and conferences. Popl’s universal badge scanner and lead retrieval are built for exactly that, and Ahoyy has nothing equivalent.
  • You need leads to land in a CRM automatically. Popl includes CRM integrations in its pricing rather than charging extra for them. Ahoyy has no CRM integration of any kind.
  • You have a large team and hate per-seat maths. Popl says it does not charge per seat and does not cap users, events or leads. Ahoyy has seats on a business account.
  • You want a salesperson, onboarding and an account to escalate to. Popl sells through a demo and a relationship. Ahoyy is self-serve, and support is email.
  • You want an established global product with years behind it. Popl is a known brand internationally. Ahoyy is new, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
  • You want a physical tap-to-share card. Ahoyy sells no hardware at all, so if a card you can tap is the deciding factor, we are not the product.

Where Ahoyy is the better pick

  • You want to see the price before you talk to anyone. Ours is on a public page in rupees. Popl’s is not published.
  • You are one person or a small shop. Free forever covers the whole core product, and you never have to sit through a demo call to use it.
  • You have a shop, not a booth. Ahoyy gives you a public page at ahoyy.app/b/your-shop with your service list and prices, photos, a map pin, enquiry and booking messages, and a UPI QR.
  • You want to be found, not just remembered. Our shop pages are server-rendered so search engines can read them. Personal cards at /u/ stay out of search on purpose, because phone numbers do not belong in Google.
  • You work in Hindi. The app, the business screens and our 12-category, 84-service taxonomy are all bilingual.
  • Your phonebook is the actual problem. Import from your phone with a duplicate filter, keep notes on a person, and record the place where you met them.
  • You take payments over UPI. Your shop page carries your UPI QR and we never touch the money or take a cut of it.

Common questions

How much does Popl cost?
Popl does not publish a price. On 31 July 2026 its pricing page said pricing is quoted over a meeting rather than listed on the site. Other websites carry numbers for Popl plans, but since we could not read those figures on Popl’s own pages we do not repeat them here. Book their demo to get a real quote.
Does Popl have a free plan?
No free plan is described on Popl’s pricing page as of 31 July 2026. We could not confirm one either way, so we are not going to state that it exists or that it does not. Ahoyy has a free forever tier that is listed publicly.
Is Ahoyy a Popl alternative?
For a person or a small shop, yes. Card sharing, contact keeping and a public business page are the overlap, and Ahoyy does those free. For event lead capture, badge scanning and CRM routing at a company, Popl is a different class of product and Ahoyy is not a substitute.
Does Ahoyy sell NFC cards like Popl does?
No. We sell no hardware. Ahoyy gives you the page and the free QR code that an NFC card would point at. If you already own a blank NFC card, most of them can be programmed with any web link, including your Ahoyy link.
Can I get Ahoyy from the App Store or Play Store?
Not yet. The Ahoyy mobile app is distributed through TestFlight. Everything else runs in a browser, so you can make your card, share it and manage your shop page without installing anything.
Which is better for a small business in India?
Ahoyy, in most cases, because the price is published in rupees, the free tier covers the core, and the shop page is designed to be found in search with your services, prices and a UPI QR on it. Popl is aimed at companies running events.
Do these facts change?
Yes. Everything on this page was read off Popl’s own site on 31 July 2026. If they publish prices later, this page needs updating.

No demo call needed

A card, a public page, a QR code and a clean phonebook cost nothing on Ahoyy.
